Browning Set to Retire from O’Neal Industries After Remarkable 45-Year Career

BIRMINGHAM, AL – December 7, 2022 – Norm Browning has announced his retirement from O’Neal Industries (ONI) effective January 1, 2023, after a 45-year career.  Browning began his career with Shelby Steel in 1977 and became part of the ONI family when O’Neal Steel acquired the company in 1985. He started his career as a warehouseman in Shelbyville, Indiana, his hometown.  Over the course of his career, Norm held various positions such as Warehouse Supervisor, Operations Manager, Outsides Sales, Sales Manager, and District Manager before being promoted to Senior Vice President–Southern Region in 2006, which brought him to Birmingham.  In 2015 he joined O’Neal Industries as Vice President of Business Development.

Browning has served as Chairman of the Metal Service Center Institute’s (MSCI) Plates and Shapes Council as well as on the MSCI Membership Committee, as Chairman of the Board of Junior Achievement of Alabama, and as member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, and Sons of the American Legion.
