Leeco Steel Acquires Plate Processor, Expands Processing Capabilities

Lisle, IL – July 5, 2023 – Leeco® Steel, North America’s largest supplier of steel plate, has acquired Alvarado, TX-based Titan Steel, a steel plate processor specializing in plasma and oxy-fuel cutting and machining, effective June 30, 2023. This is Leeco Steel’s first acquisition and will expand the company’s processing capabilities, which now includes milling services in addition to plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, drilling, tapping, beveling, chamfering, shot blasting and parts cleaning.

As part of the acquisition, Leeco will retain Titan Steel’s entire staff, its Alvarado, TX facility and the company’s steel plate cutting, drilling and milling machines. The facility will be rebranded as Leeco Steel’s Alvarado processing plant effective July 5th, 2023 and will receive immediate upgrades to its network and systems hardware to improve operational efficiency.

“The addition of the Titan Steel facility allows us to expand our value-added processing services and our market reach,” said Denton Nordhues, President & CEO of Leeco Steel. “Titan’s core values of quality, safety and customer satisfaction made the company a natural fit with Leeco, and we look forward to seeing how this addition sets us up for future growth.”

In recent years, Leeco Steel has been steadily expanding its value-added processing services to complement its core plate distribution offering. The company is currently the largest supplier of steel plate material – which includes raw plate as well as cut parts – in North America.

With the addition of the Alvarado location, Leeco will soon be able to produce parts that require precision machining and milling. These parts are often used as components on larger pieces of equipment – such as transmission towers – and can be time-consuming and inefficient for OEMs to produce in-house.

“We are excited to offer our customers even more value-added services, particularly in the south, southeast and southwest regions,” said John Purcell, Leeco’s Vice President of Sales. “Our goal is to be a more comprehensive steel plate supply chain partner to all of our customers, whether that means providing raw plate or augmenting existing customer capabilities with processed parts.”

To support business growth from the Alvarado processing location, Leeco created a sales division dedicated to serving customers in the energy transmission and distribution (T&D) industry. This will enable the company to offer a new range of processed parts to customers in this industry.

“Leeco has been a leading steel plate supplier to the T&D industry for nearly a decade,” said Purcell. “We are pleased to provide the industry with additional value-added services. To ensure that we maintain and enhance the customer experience, we created a T&D sales division to support this expansion.”

The acquisition was finalized on June 30, 2023. Operations at Leeco Steel Alvarado started on July 5, 2023.
