Stephen Armstrong is President and Chief Operating Officer of O’Neal Industries (ONI), the parent company of leading metal service centers and component manufacturing businesses. He previously served as Executive Vice President after joining ONI in 2020.

Stephen began his career at BellSouth, where he spent a decade in operations, finance, marketing, strategic pricing, and management. He joined O’Neal Steel in 2006 as Financial Planning & Analysis Manager and progressed through roles of increasing scope, including Manager of Sales & Marketing Analysis and Vice President of Administration. In 2012, he was named Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, and two years later he became President & CEO.

Stephen is deeply invested in industry and community organizations. He is a member of the UAB Collat School of Business Advisory Committee, the Auburn Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Advisory Board, the Smile A Mile Board of Directors, the Rotary Club of Birmingham, the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, the United Way of Central Alabama Board of Directors, and the Metals Service Center Institute Board of Directors, among others.

A Birmingham native, Stephen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
