<p>Hamilton, Ohio -Friday, May 11, 2012 -U. S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp. spent time this morning with staff from United Performance Metals as well as 30 other local business leaders to discuss current issues and obstacles they are facing in the area of job creation. </p>
<p>Speaker Boehner opened up the floor to questions from small business owners with regard to the obstacles they face.  Topics covered included pension reform, EPA overreach, health care reform, export strategies, tax codes and education.</p>
<p>Mr. Speaker thanked all of the invited guests for all the work they do.  “Employers take the risk to invest in a business, take a risk to hire people and, it all makes an impact in your community.”</p>

<p>BIRMINGHAM, AL — In a move designed to further enhance efficiency, synergy, and customer service, the collective facilities of O’Neal Steel are now grouped into three operating regions: South, Midwest, and Southwest. This streamlined organizational model should allow for even greater focus and cooperation among facilities, while simplifying the management structure at the regional level with three new Regional Vice Presidents.</p>
<p>            The South Region, now composed of operations in Birmingham, AL, Greensboro, NC, Jackson, MS, Jacksonville, FL, Knoxville, TN, Mobile, AL, Nashville, TN, and Tampa, FL, is led by Regional Vice President Gary Gray. Gray began his career as an hourly employee at O’Neal 36 years ago, and has held numerous supervisory and management positions in operations, in addition to having served as a General Manager and Regional Manager.</p>
<p>            The Midwest Region consists of operations in Clifton, NJ, Evansville, IN, Ft. Wayne, IN, Peru, IL, Pittsburgh, PA, Shelbyville, IN, and Waterloo, IA, and is led by Regional Vice President Jeff Roberston. A graduate of Purdue University, Robertson has 26 years experience in the metals industry, and has been with O’Neal since 1996, having held the positions of Sales Manager, General Manager, and Regional Manager.</p>
<p>            The Southwest Region includes the Commerce City, CO, Dallas, TX, Farmington, NM, Houston, TX, Jonesboro, AR, Lafayette, LA, and Little Rock, AR facilities, which are now overseen by Regional Vice President Steve Coulter. A graduate of Southwest Texas State University, Coulter has 23 years experience in the metals industry. He joined O’Neal in 1993, and has worked as an Inside Sales Representative, Office Manager, Sales Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, and Regional Manager prior to this promotion.</p>

<p>BIRMINGHAM, AL — O’Neal Industries announced today the acquisition of Iowa Laser Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of fabricated metal assemblies and components operating out of a single facility in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The addition of Iowa Laser represents a significant strategic move for O’Neal Manufacturing Services, which was formed by O’Neal Steel earlier in 2011. According to Steve McCracken, Executive Vice President of O’Neal Manufacturing Services, “The addition of Iowa Laser to O’Neal Manufacturing Services creates some exciting opportunities for us and for our customers. With the addition of Iowa Laser’s capabilities and expertise, we will be better positioned to increase our manufacturing offerings and improve our overall growth. Existing O’Neal customers will have access to additional expertise, and Iowa Laser customers will benefit from O’Neal’s size and industry position. The geography works well for us, and the cultural fit appears to be perfect.”</p>
<p>Joe Barber, President of Iowa Laser, will continue to oversee the company’s operations, which includes more than 20 laser cutting machines as well as various welding, machining, and forming equipment that the company uses to process sheet, tube, stamped, and spun metal parts for customers in the agricultural, forestry, automotive, material handling, and construction equipment industries. &#8220;Iowa Laser is extremely excited about joining the O&#8217;Neal family of companies. <p>BIRMINGHAM, AL — O’Neal Industries, Inc. through its subsidiary, United Performance Metals, Inc., (UPM) has acquired Plus Ten Stainless, Inc., a provider of precision cold saw cut stainless steel, nickel alloy, and stainless plate. Plus Ten operates a single processing and distribution facility in Benicia, California in the San Francisco Bay area.</p>
<p>The addition of the Plus Ten is a strategic expansion for UPM, which is based in Hamilton, Ohio. “Acquiring a well-respected and successful company such as Plus Ten gives us an immediate presence and a strong position in a key geographic area,” said UPM President, Tom Kennard. “The company is an outstanding addition to our High Performance Metals Group and enhances our overall strength in products such as precision cut stainless plate.”</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">BRIGHTON, CO — Terry Taft, President and CEO of Metalwest/TAD Metals, two member companies of the O’Neal Industrial Metals Group, has announced his decision to retire. A 31-year veteran of the industry, Taft began his metals service center career with Shelby Steel, based in Shelbyville, IN, in 1980. There, he rose to the position of General Manager. O’Neal Steel acquired Shelby Steel in 1985; and in 1990, Taft became O’Neal’s Regional Vice President-Midwest. In 2000, he was named Executive Vice President and COO of the company. And in 2006, he was promoted to his current position as President and CEO of Metalwest/TAD Metals.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Ron Sardaro, formerly Senior Vice President of Metalwest, succeeds Taft as President and CEO of Metalwest/TAD Metals, with Taft serving as an advisor during the transition period through the end of the year. Sardaro joined Metalwest in 1993, and has held a number of management positions throughout his career with the company. In addition to his responsibilities as a member of Metalwest’s executive team, he oversaw the company’s purchasing function and was responsible for Metalwest’s regional sales offices.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Phill Cavender, General Manager-Texas Region for Metalwest has been promoted to Vice President Sales-Western Region. Cavender started with Metalwest in 1999 as Inside Sales Manager, became Territory Manager in 2000, and was promoted to General Manager-Texas Region in 2003.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Sardaro and Cavender are joined by Bruce Pole, Senior Vice President Operations, Mark Cianciolo, CFO, and Craig Pickett, Vice President Marketing, as members of Metalwest’s executive management team.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Founded in 1986 and based near Denver, Metalwest has traditionally specialized in lightgauge, flat-roll products ranging from hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated carbon steel to aluminum and stainless sheet and coil. <p>BIRMINGHAM, AL — O’Neal Steel, Inc. has promoted Jeff Burleson to the position of Corporate Logistics Manager.</p>
<p>Burleson began his career at O’Neal’s Birmingham District in 1980 as a warehouseman. He worked his way up to Production Supervisor before transferring to the Houston District as Production Manager in 1995. In 1998, he joined O’Neal’s corporate office as part of the team responsible for implementing a company-wide conversion to a new computer system, and later served as Production Manager of O’Neal’s Coil Processing Facility near Birmingham.</p>
<p>In 2010, building upon his knowledge of the company’s operations, as well as his system skills, Burleson was named Project Manager for O’Neal’s 3rd party logistics team, following the strategic decision to transition delivery services from a private fleet to a 3rd party provider. In his new role as Corporate Logistics Manager, he will be responsible for managing the provider’s contract and maximizing the effectiveness of the delivery system for O’Neal’s customers.</p>

<p>BIRMINGHAM, AL — Terry Orsbun has been named General Manager of O’Neal Steel’s operation in Little Rock, Arkansas. He moves to his new position after serving as General Manager of the company’s Evansville, Indiana district, where he earned a reputation for customer focus, pricing discipline, and accountability.</p>
<p>Orsbun has 18 years of experience in the metals industry, having worked in both inside and outside sales and sales management in Texas and Arkansas before joining O’Neal in 2007 as Assistant General Manager of the Evansville facility. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, and holds a degree in marketing management.</p>
